Kokilaben Ambani Hospital launches India's Largest and Most Advanced Center for Sports Medicine


  • Mumbai's First Sports Medicine diagnosis, rehabilitation and Surgery facility

Mumbai, October 29th 2010: In a first of its kind move, Kokilaben D. Ambani Hospital – A Social Initiative by Reliance ADA Group – today announced the launch of India's largest and most advanced Center for Sports Medicine at Mumbai today. The facility spread across 12,000 sq feet is also the first of its kind facility in Mumbai and the 2nd such facility in the country. The world class Center of Sports Medicine, comparable with the best Sports Medicine facilities worldover both in terms of infrastructure as well as faculty, will specialize in diagnosis, rehabilitation and surgery of patients with Sports related injuries.

Speaking at the launch, Smt. Tina A Ambani said, "We are proud to launch the Centre for Sports Medicine at Kokilaben Hospital. Center for Sports Medicine at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital was launched by noted Bollywood star and sports enthusiast Akshay Kumar in the presence of Smt. Tina A. Ambani. Leading Indian Sportspersons and winners in recent Commonwealth Games also participated in the launch ceremony of India's most advanced Sports Medicine facility which will not only eliminate the need of Indian Sportsmen having to go abroad, but will offer preventive and timely care for sports related injuries.

Kokilaben D Ambani Hospital's Center for Sports Medicine will introduce a host of Sports Medicine related facilities for the first time in India, including:

  • India's first Aquatic Treadmill
  • India's first computer navigated ACL repair system
  • India's first Autologus stem cell transplantation
  • Mumbai's first Gait and Motion Analysis Lab

The 12000 sq ft dedicated to the centre houses India's first Aquatic Treadmill integrated with Hydropool, Mumbai's first Gait & Motion Analysis Laboratory, Balance Assessment and Training System (BATS), Human Performance Evaluation (VO2 max) and Multi-joint Dynamometer with Work Simulator -- all under one roof.
