Types of Cardiomyopathy

Dilated Cardiomyopathy : If heart is dilated, it is called Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Its causes are:

  • Post cancer chemotherapy treatment
  • Certain hereditary conditions

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy : In this condition, heart muscle becomes thick and requires medical and surgical therapy.

Restrictive Cardiomyopathy: Irregular heart beat can also cause weakness of heart muscle and failure. Sudden death is complication of cardiomyopathy, and it may be prevented by implantable cardioverter defibrillator.
