Biochemistry And Immunology

The Biochemistry and Immunology Laboratory at Kokilaben Hospital is one of the largest state-of-the-art laboratory in India and offers over 400 routine and highly advanced tests. The laboratory has achieved the six sigma level of quality specification for most of the routine and specialised parameters.

The department consists of both specialised and diversified areas like Biochemistry, Immunology, Immuno-Fluorescence Microscopy, Toxicology, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Pre-natal Screening. It offers a full array of laboratory services, provided by a team of highly skilled technical staff under the supervision of Medical Biochemistry Consultant. It aims to deliver excellent, cost-effective and evidence-based patient care, within a clinically relevant turn around time.

Key Features of the Biochemistry and Immunology Laboratory

  • Our Total Quality Management Protocol (Lean - Six Sigma) in the Biochemistry and Immunology Laboratory has received appreciation both from American Association of Clinical Chemistry and International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (recognition from IFCC on Development of Quality Competence in Medical Laboratories).

Our Quality Assurance Program is designed to monitor every step in the study process. The standard operating procedures are strictly followed throughout all processes. Internal quality control samples are tested with each batch of specimens. Quality control results meet all statistical process control criteria, before patient results are released. We also participate in International External Quality Assurance Programs (CAP, Biorad). Continuous Quality Improvement Programs enhance the quality of our results and services.

Being the only Asian member (Dr. B. Das) in the International Federation of Clinical Chemistrys (IFCC) six-member committee for Standardization of Thyroid Function Test (C-STFT) worldwide, 2012-2014, our immunology and biochemistry team is always striving for the highest level of standardisation and quality for immunoassay and chemistry parameters.

  • Access to development of cutting edge diagnostic tests, as per the study protocol.
  • A complete automated system from bar coding to bilateral interfacing of results, minimising any kind of manual error.
  • Around 14 state-of-the-art instruments with back up facility in the biochemistry and immunology section.
  • Turn Around Time and Process Re-engineering: Processing and reporting within the time frame of the study protocol.
