Dr. Rajendra Sonawane: Laparoscopic total gastrectomy and creation of neo stomach with jejunal pouch for giant multicentric GIST
Gastrointestinal Stromal tumors are rare GI tumors. A stomach riddled multiple giant sized (more than 10 cm). Tumors was successfully removed through laparoscope. A complex reconstruction was performed to restore the function of stomach in the form of jejunal pouch.
Dr. Rajendra Sonawane: Rare ‘Central Pancreatectomy ‘ for insulin producing Tumor
Insulin Producing tumor in pancreas is known as insulinomas. High insulin production leads to life threatening attacks of seriously low blood sugar. Diagnosis of such tumors is challenging. After years of visiting multiple hospitals, this patient got new lease of life when his tumor was finally diagnosed at KDAH.
Traditional operations for pancreatic resection are Whipple’s procedure or distal / partial pancreatectomy. Given the small size of tumor, operations like this would have rendered patient a diabetic. Hence a pancreas preserving procedure was performed.
