Has your baby got the first tooth?

KDAH

Parents can start caring for their baby's gums right away. But at first, avoid using a toothbrush or toothpaste. Instead, get a soft, moistened washcloth, and gently wipe down your baby's gums at least twice a day. Especially wipe your baby's gums after feedings and before bedtime to wash off bacteria and prevent them from clinging to gums which can damage the infant's teeth as they come in. When the first baby teeth start to pop up, use a child-sized, soft-bristled toothbrush and a pea-sized dab of non-fluoridated toothpaste. In addition, your child's first dentist visit must be scheduled by their 2nd or 3rd birthday.
