Insulin producing tumour in pancreas is known as insulinomas. High insulin production leads to life threatening attacks of seriously low blood sugar. Diagnosis of such tumours is challenging. After years of visiting multiple hospitals, this patient got new lease of life when his tumour was finally diagnosed at KDAH.
Traditional operations for pancreatic resection are Whipple’s procedure or distal / partial pancreatectomy. Given the small size of tumour, operations like this would have rendered patient a diabetic. Hence a pancreas preserving procedure was performed.
Gastrointestinal Stromal tumors are rare GI tumors. A stomach riddled with multiple giant sized (more than 10 cm) GISTs Tumour was successfully removed through laparoscope. A complex reconstruction was performed to restore the function of stomach in the form of jejunal pouch.
At Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, laparoscopic colon and rectal cancer surgery is the standard of care. Recently, state of the art Robotics has added precision, ease and 3-dimensional visions to this operation. We have applied this technology for precise resection of rectal cancer for the first time in Mumbai.
