Here’s how packaging makes you eat more than you should.

Ever opened a "small" snack pack and finished it without even noticing? Many snack packages are intentionally designed to make you eat more than you need. Bright colors, “grab-and-go” sizes, and misleading serving sizes all trick your brain into thinking it's okay to keep munching. Here’s how to snack smarter and avoid falling into the overeating trap: * 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹. Don’t be fooled by words like “low-fat” or “light.” Look at the serving size and how many servings are in the pack. * 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁. Instead of eating directly from the bag or box, pour a single portion into a bowl or container. This helps you stay aware of how much you're actually eating. * 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝘄𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲. It’s a psychological trick, smaller dishes can make portions look bigger, helping you feel satisfied with less. * 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 "𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗼𝘀." Just because something is labeled “organic,” “gluten-free,” or “natural” doesn’t mean it’s low in sugar, salt, or calories. * 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱. Snacking while watching TV or using the computer can lead to overeating, so it's better to stay mindful and focus on your food to enjoy it more and eat less. Take control of what, how, and how much you eat.
